Our Last Christmas Together

The view from our cabin window looking out at the Grand Tetons in Wyoming.

We spent our cabin time trying to get a peek at this between the passing clouds. These beautiful peaks were the focus of so much of our conversation and seeing them became a quest.

Their raw beauty filled us with awe.

Joey and I doing some Christmas shopping between ski days.

He didn't like to shop, so he unknowingly gave me a gift that day-- just to hang out with me. It's a tender memory now.

Oh, to have those precious moments again.

Drinking beer and hot toddies at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar in Jackson Hole, WY. This was much more to his liking. I bought him a t-shirt there which he loved.

His easy grin as he opened presents on Christmas morning. He basked in the pleasure of the moment. He was always good about being in the moment and exuded joy and contentment as he soaked life in.
How I miss his smile and his style
so
very
much.

What a gift he was.

Dear Karen, I've been thinking of you since you left a comment this a.m. I was with my friend, Kathleen, today (Hayden & Gunnar's mom) and thought about how much you would like each other.

I loved these memories, and the photos illustrating them. It sounds as if it was a beautiful vacation. Joey looks like such a sweet and fun young man. He has a twinkle, and yet a kind of calm, too. I wish I had been able to meet him and I am thankful that he caused me to meet you.

My heart is with yours as you miss him. It's just so hard on some days. May God wrap you in His arms and hold you even closer.

I am finished with baking and the kitchen looks like nothing I have ever seen.
I love seeing the pictures of your family with Joey. I know he was loved, it is just how you are. I will miss the pictures this year, like last, and wonder how to put Angie in them again. When she was well and happy of course! Gather yourself up with Joe and cry if you must. Heaven seems so far away.

I don't think I know any other family who lived life so much. I wish for you there was still a lot more cause you sure knew how to do it up right. You all just look so satisfied.
