Two Years Ago

A devastated family commits a precious son to God's care...

This brokenhearted mama scatters his precious ashes in the water, and watches as they mingle with the flowers...

Friends paddle us into shore, so near us in our agony...
thank you for being there for us still.

Goodbye, Beautiful and Beloved Joey.

Our wonderful son, brother, uncle, nephew, friend...

We love you so very deeply and miss you every moment.
We will never see this world the same again without you in it.

Aloha Oe...until we meet again.

Karen and Joe;
I'm so sorry for your loss. And I am so sad for my dear, dear friends. I wish I lived closer so I could wrap my arms around you both.
I love you,
Marina

Thank you for posting this painfully beautiful photos. I love how close your community was with you, and how you were all in the water as you released Joey's ashes into it - all of you, touching his essence.
It reminds me of what we did last August with some of Katie's ashes. I am amazed at your strength, to actually scatter his ashes with your fingers, Karen. Katie's were in a biodegradable box that was designed to float for a while, and then to sink, scattering them over time.
I had to keep some of her ashes...they are by my bedside in a metal heart now.
Sending you much love, as always, but especially as the day draws near.

Beautiful pictures but oh, I can feel the weight of that day. It still seems unbelievable, yes? that life has turned out this way. Strangely enough, I have been thinking about ashes all week, and now I will think about Joey's as well. Much love to you all.
